Junior Thomas Fielder competed last Saturday in the Sectional Championship hosted by Lockport High School. On a sunny, cool, and windy day the conditions were ideal for great cross country racing. While the course proved to be punishing by most standards (3.1 miles, wet, muddy, and hilly), Thomas put himself in a position to compete well in an attempt to move on to the state championship. The top 7 individuals (not on a qualifying team) finishing in the race would move on to Peoria where the individual and team championship is decided. Unfortunately, Thomas did not run his best race and fell just short of achieving his goal to represent the Red Devil’s at the state tournament. However, Thomas showed great determination and perseverance all season as he was our number 1 runner in every competition. Congratulations on a great season Thomas!

We would like to thank all of the parents and athletes involved in the 2006 boys cross country program. We feel everyone on the team, at all levels, competed well and did a terrific job. The coaching staff is looking forward to next year in anticipation to continue to move forward as a driven, hard working, and competitive program. On behalf of the boys program I would like to thank you once again on a great season!
